The division is responsible for the development and monitoring of road and
rail safety and road use management policies aimed at achieving a land transport
system which is safe, efficient, less damaging to the environment and accessible
to all in the community. Services include driver and vehicle management policies
and systems, development of vehicle safety and compliance policies, associated
legislative development including new nationally-uniform road use management
legislation and the development of community road safety programs.
