The functions of the Queensland Workplace Rights Ombudsman, as detailed in the Industrial Relations Act 1999, are in part:

• to inform, educate and promote informed decision-making by persons the ombudsman considers are affected by industrial relations and other work-related matters; and
  
• to investigate and publicise unlawful, unfair or inappropriate industrial relations and other work-related matters in Queensland.
