The Tribunal mediates in and determines consumer-trader and trader-trader disputes as well as disagreements over motor vehicle accidents and dividing fences when the claim is under $7,500. The Tribunal also handles disputes relating to residential tenancies and mobile homes.

The Land and Resources Tribunal is an independent statutory tribunal established under the Land and Resources Tribunal Act 1999. The Tribunal is a court of record and has (for exercising its jurisdiction) all of the powers of the Supreme Court.
The Tribunal provides parties with an integrated system for dealing with issues in dispute regarding proposed resource development and other land management issues including matters affected by native title. The Tribunal's principal jurisdiction is under the Mineral Resources Act 1989 and the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004. The Tribunal has jurisdiction under 14 other Acts of Parliament, including exclusive jurisdiction to grant injunctive relief to protect, preserve or allow access to items, places or areas of Indigenous cultural significance. The Tribunal is required to act as quickly, and with as little formality and technicality as is consistent with the fair and proper consideration of the issues before it. As a consequence of the services the Tribunal provides, it facilitates the growth of exploration and development of Queensland's mineral, coal and petroleum resources that in turn secures an economic return to the Queensland community from the use of these resources. The presiding members of the Tribunal are appointed at judicial-equivalent level: the President at the level of a Supreme Court judge and the Deputy President at the level of District Court judge.

The Land Court is an independent judicial tribunal. The primary and general
powers of the Court are contained in the Land Court Act 2000. Sittings
are held in Brisbane, principal country towns and smaller centres where suitable
facilities are available. The Court presently has jurisdiction under 35 Acts
of Parliament and provides an appeal mechanism for land related matters.
Appeals lie in most matters from decisions of the Court to the Land Appeal Court.
The Land Appeal Court is constituted by a Supreme Court Judge and two Members
of the Land Court (other than the Member whose decision is appealed against).
The Land Appeal Court usually sits in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville and
Cairns.

PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT COURT

The Planning and Environment Court was initially set up to hear and determine appeals from town planning decisions of all Local Government Authorities concerning rezoning and subdivision under the Local Government (Planning and Environment) Act. However the Court Jurisdiction has been extended to cover areas such as Contaminated Land Act and Heritage Act and like matters. An appeal lies in most matters from a decision of the Court to the Court of Appeal. All District Court Registries are a Registry for the Planning and Environment Court.
